Exciting Update: What's Next for Addie

Hi Reader,

In January, I took a break from our weekly emails to deal with some significant personal and professional changes.

Most importantly, I needed time to honor the memory of my mom, who passed away a few days before Christmas. If you missed my last email about this, you can read about it here: Remembering My Mom.)

On a brighter note, I am excited to share that I have joined Spera Law Group, led by my friend Andrew Legrand!

Joining another law firm was never a part of my plan, but their vision of making the law less intimidating for people perfectly aligns with mine. They are also moving away from the traditional billable hour pricing model towards more transparent, predictable pricing, which I fully support.

Although I have joined Spera Law Group, I will still be your go-to person for estate planning. With this new change, we can offer additional services, such as outside general counsel memberships for businesses and help with trademarks.

With this new change, my website is being updated, and I look forward to sharing that with you soon! My commitment to providing legal services with honesty, compassion, and simplicity remains unchanged.

I will continue to send these weekly emails, so if you ever have a specific topic you want me to address, please let me know!

Take care,
Addie

This morning, my kids burst into my room, screaming, “It’s snowing! It’s snowing!” In New Orleans, that’s practically science fiction. Schools had been warning us since Friday—no classes today becuase of snow. Cue every working parent’s dilemma: how to keep kids entertained, off their devices, and still get anything done. Hi Reader, I’ve always been a big fan of podcasts, and this week, I came across one where the guest said something that got me thinking. They pointed out that lawyers often refer to themselves as “trusted advisors,” but is that really the case if every conversation comes with a fee? When it comes to estate planning, it’s so much more than just transactions. It’s about building a relationship that helps guide your family’s future and ensuring your wishes are fully understood—without worrying...
